The Little Blue Cloud

Last year we were one of the Airshows considerably favoured with a visit on the tour of Ready 4 Duty, an epic from the ages which saw the only Navy version of the DC3 cross the Atlantic and spend the summer in the UK. It was an epic, historic feat of Airmanship and it was a joy to work with the Commemorative Air Force.

They obviously enjoyed it too because (and we can only hope this becomes a tradition) this year the CAF are doing it again, and (to scale at least) it's just as intrepid and epic.

The journey is smaller, but so too is the plane. Little Blue Cloud is a Piper NE-1 a Navy variant of the iconic Piper Cub. The journey, well it's coming from France but crossing the Channel in a single engined aircraft is intrepid, epic and not for the faint of heart. It's not the Atlantic, but the DC3 does have two engines, whearas the Cub doesn't and her one engine is 65hp. The DC3's two engines aren't. Try 2,400 hp total. That's quite a bit of a difference.

We're therefore delighted to be one of only five opportunities for you to see another piece of history thanks to our new best friends, the Commemorative Air Force.
