We've managed to pull out something of a last month coup. You won't see this Lockheed 12A Electra in the programme because we had no real expectation that we'd be able to book it. Our very good friends at Ultimate Warbirds have been extremely kind and therefore, making it's debut on both days, one of the 1930's best looking and most versatile aircraft.
This, along with the Staggerwing, epitomizes the golden age of aviation. The smaller version of the Lockheed Electra, this ultra luxury masterpiece was used in WWII by the RAF and several branches of the US military, principally to move extremely important people around at speed, which is perfectly possible when you have 900hp from the two Pratt and Whitney Wasp engines. They also explain the 200+mph top speed.
Here's a final fact, which makes this aircraft the preserve usually of the best Airshows like RIAT and Midlands; it's one of two left flying in the world.
